How do I go to places?

This is just the Second Life Profile Feed, a kind of social media accessory of Second Life itself. You need to go to secondlife.com and download the actual program and viewer.http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/less than a minute ago Loveleehere.absent
"To explore, communicate, and connect in Second Life, you'll need to download our 3D browsing software, or what we call the SL Viewer. It's not only fast and easy to download and install, but it's free and contains no spyware."less than a minute ago Loveleehere.absent
There are other viewers, but if you are new to Second Life, then the official Linden Lab viewer is the best way to start.less than a minute ago Loveleehere.absent
A better place to ask questions and receive good answers is in the "Answers" section of the Second Life forum.http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Answers/qac-p/Answersless than a minute ago Loveleehere.absent
There is also a Second Life Wiki.http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Main_Pageless than a minute ago Loveleehere.absent

I'm throwing a lot of information at you. Just take it one at at time starting with the first response about how to get inworld with a downloaded viewer. http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/less than a minute ago Loveleehere.absent

From Wikipedia:
"Second Life is an online virtual world developed by Linden Lab. It was launched on June 23, 2003. A number of free client programs, or Viewers,[1][2] enable Second Life users, called Residents, to interact with each other through avatars. Residents can explore the world (known as the grid), meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade virtual property and services with one another. Second Life is intended for people aged 16 and over,[3] and as of 2011 has about one million active users.[4]"From me:
"Hi. I appreciate your kind offer of friendship, but I prefer to wait until I've actually met and spoken with someone before adding them to my Friends List. An alternative to "Friending" someone is to "Follow" them. I welcome "Followers." The button for that is on the right next to "Add Friend" on your Feed profile. Best wishes to you in your Second Life adventures! Maybe I will see you inworld one day. Until then... enjoy!"
There is a plethora of SL 'help' related blogs and people. I think most of the newer people signing up really don't want to spend time in-world, I think they prefer the feeds. Age?
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while someone sees the inworld pics and asks how to get there or inworld.
ReplyDeleteAge seems to be a feed issue. I've seen people claiming to be 10 and 12-year olds on the Feeds. I've also seen people posting hard core, extreme fetish, XXX pics and captions on the Feeds in public areas.
ReplyDeleteI get asked about how to get inworld and how to post pics to the feed. A lot. So this ^^^ and this >>> http://leeherevw.blogspot.com/2012/03/posting-to-profile-feed.html.
ReplyDeleteI also get a lot of Friend Requests from people I've never heard of or spoken to, so I say this fairly often:
"Hi. I appreciate your kind offer of friendship, but I prefer to wait until I've actually met and spoken with someone before adding them to my Friends List. An alternative to "Friending" someone is to 'Follow' them. I welcome 'Followers.' Best wishes to you in your Second Life adventures! Maybe I will see you inworld one day. Until then... enjoy!"
all comes with being a prolific feed whore having so much fun. ;-)
Me too Lee. Perhaps too many friend requests. I tell them to follow me on the feeds and post into me - participate and converse before I friend you. I really worry about the age of many. I DO NOT want 16 yr. old friends.

ReplyDeleteWelcome to Second Life. Have you downloaded the viewer? The viewer is how you can get into our 'world' and have fun. Go to your Dashboard page (you must use your username/password to gain access..same one you use here) https://secondlife.com/my/?lang=en-US and look on the right side of the page and
click 'Download SL Viewer'. Your computer must meet minimum system requirements to run the viewer ( https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/index.php?lang=en-US ). If you have other questions, visit the Answer Form here to get help. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Answers/qac-p/Answers You use the same username/password to access these places as you use here. In fact, your username is your avatar name. Enjoy!
