Brace Yourself, Bridget (Kerbal Space Program)

Stephie is preparing to unleash the Lee beast on yet another world.

[7/27/2011 11:59:16 PM] Steph: You have to try this  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

This will not end well.

From the Kerbal Space Program "About" page:

"Kerbal Space Program is a multi-genre game where the player can create his own space program.

In KSP, you must build a space-worthy craft, capable of flying it's crew out into space, without killing them.At your disposal is a collection of parts, which must be assembled to create a functional ship. Each part has it's own function and will affect the way a ship flies (or doesn't).So strap yourself in, and get ready to try some Rocket Science!

Main Features:

● The Vehicle Assembly Building. allows players to build spacecraft out of any imaginable combination of parts.● Fully-fledged, Physics-based Flight Simulation ensures everything will fly (and crash) as it should.● Procedural Terrain delivers detailed terrain at a vast scale. The Kerbal Planet is 600km in radius!● Mod-enabled, allows players to create new content and modify the game.● Ship systems. Keep an eye out for engine temperatures and fuel levels, and try not to explode.● Build ships with multiple stages, and jettison parts away as they burn out.● Full control over the staging sequence allows for complex ships and advanced functionality.

Planned Features:

● Take on Missions to attract interest in your Space Program. Or use the Mission Planner to create your own missions.● Manage your Space Program. Hire astronauts, train them, research and improve parts.● Fly out to Moons and other Planets● Build Space Stations, and surface bases on other worlds.
And a whole lot more!
KSP is still under development, so many things are not yet as they should be. We are working hard to be constantly improving the game however, and it will be regularly updated with bug fixes and new content, so make sure to check back for new versions. We are also always listening to feedback from the players, and we welcome ideas and suggestions.

Currently the game is being built as an open sandbox. There are no objectives yet. You're free to build anything you can think of, and fly it wherever you want, even into orbit.

The first versions are free to download and play, and will remain so forever. After the game reaches a certain state of development, it will be available for purchase at a discounted price, which will gradually increase up to it's final retail price as the game nears completion. So by ordering early, you get the game for a lot less, and you'll get all future updates for free.

Have Fun!"

"Kerbal Space Program is a simple, free strategy game in which you're in charge of an alien space program. Don't worry, it's nothing too complex."

"Sounds simple, but there's surprising depth to the game's creation aspect, and given the fact you need to manually control the rocket, there's some deft handling required of the launch section as well."

I'm just wondering what has happened to Stephie to now think that sending me into a place where "things are not yet as they should be" to build, crash and "try not to explode" is a good idea given my track record in Second Life and the Utherverse.

Oh hang on.  I just remembered the times she stealth-stalked me, took pictures, slung me crap and laughed from a safe distance.*  The penny is dropping.

Follow-up to "Eavesdropping (July 5, 2011)"

This is a follow-up to "Eavesdropping (July 5, 2011)."

RanmaTardis registered on SC MKII, passed through Ellis Island, and is now on SC MKII "asking to be forgiven" and to have that message passed on to Joshua in the SLUniverse too.  The following quotes are from Ranma's posts on SC MKII.

"Talking Hello

Hi I am Ranma Tardis and have been with Second Life since Nov 2005 and Inworldz since May 2011.
Oh not sure what to say, please ask me some questions.
Oh pleased to meet you and hope to meet some friends "

"Red face asking to be forgiven

I have been a griefer in the past and have flamed people who did not deserve the rude treatment. I humbly ask forgiveness of those that were wronged.
Yes i has said similar things before and am asking the community to keep me from falling astray.
It is my wish to be part of the community and learn from my interactions with others. Please accept my apologizes, especially to Siggy and Joshua. The sad part is I was not even drunk.
So I am asking this community to guild me to a better future.

onigoshimasu

kind regards
Ranma"

"Could you pass along my message to Josh? I am perm banned in sluniverse. I am going to honor it by not posting as an alt.
Maybe with some guidance from this community can grow out of being a nerd."

Looks like nina made a guest appearance.

Anyway, keep us posted.  Confidentially inquiring minds want to know.

Oh, and there's plenty of room in the Cornfield, Ranma.  Come on down!  Out is the new in!

QuaranCorn!

Send me pics of you Corned or Quarantined or both!  C'mon, links, pics, vids, emails, hints or suggestions.  Don't be shy!  Lemme see ya.  As Stephie would say...DEWIT!

SELF-Quarantined

I self-corned and self-quarantined myself.  By "self" I mean that I did it to myself by myself without assistance, direction or pushing from admins, mods or owners.

I quarantined myself to the the "area below the line" on the Utherverse forums and to the Social Groups on RLetc.com.  I quarantined myself to area-17 on gotVirtual.net and I quarantined myself to a compost heap on Second Citizen MKII.  I've been doing it in varying degrees for some time now.  I like getting comfy in a relaxed-and-groovy sometimes wild-and-crazy freewheeling space out of the way of the main drag.

The quotes below are all mine.

From Mitch_Wexler is a poopiehead on gotVirtual.net:
"Yes, I did self-corn and I did self-quarantine in area-17 too. I have not been officially modded or corned or anything. I just try to confine myself to a limited area where my style of posting is acceptable and out of the way of people who might not enjoy it as much as I and others do.

It solves some problems, but creates others, particularly for people who don't like people who appear to draw attention to themselves and for people who don't like structures or systems to be used in ways they were not originally intended or stated to be used. Like willingly going to a Cornfield without being sent there by a mod, opening all threads in area17 regardless of initial content, using forums like blogs or social groups like forums, etc., etc., etc. The act itself can be distressing for some people. Add to that content, personality and so on and it can get really messy. Welcome to humanity.

If you're into "Colors" (personality tests and types) at all, it's kind of a red/brown vs. orange/green thing. I color outside the lines."

From the Move or Delete thread on gotvirtual.net:
"I'll say this again too. I volunteer to have my access to the admin section removed now. In fact, I volunteer to be quarantined to the area17 and NSFW sections now. And I support the request to customize "views" to block those sections. I'm quite serious about that. I'm here because this forum is "clean" both in function and moderation. I'm here because I'm an adult and I want to post on an adult forum as freely as possible. I've invited my friends for that same reason. I agree with VVI on the desire to post free and unfettered. I'm happy to play in my own sandbox with whoever wants to willingly join me."

From Forum Questions (a mature area17-NSFW-Red thread on gotvirtual.net:
"Regardless, I don't think there is any rule in the Community Standards proscribing me from starting threads in the NSFW section. I'm allowed to, for now, and I did so.

I stated, more than once, that I would likely quarantine myself to the NSFW section. This should be no surprise to anyone who read those statements..."
"Perhaps my next question should be, 'if I continue to 'reside' and post exclusively or almost exclusively in the NSFW as a personal choice to self-quarantine, is this going to be a problem and will it garner me infractions and a ban?'"

From Second Citizen MK II > The Sandbox: Second Citizen > The Cornfield > Crimes Against Convention: LeeHere Absent
"So, I put myself into the Cornfield of my own volition. Self-corned. No mods or admins corned me. I'm actually still free to move about the forum. The Cornfield is available and not off limits. I've chosen to remain here. Is that clear enough?"

So I got the idea from CaTo to corn myself in Second Life and take a pic.  (Ya know Halloween is my favorite holiday, right?)

Here I am arriving in the Cornfield.

Some dead guy getting handsy in the Cornfield.  Typical.

Oh yeah, I could get comfy here.

Works for me!

 Home sweet home.

Cornfield

CaTo was in the Cornfield.  Not that one, the one in Second Life.  She blogs about it here:  http://caitlintobias.com/2011/07/22/back-to-the-cornfield and gives the following slurl so others can visit too:  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//200/168/23

My question is, how do we get Pep down there for a pic? Confidentially inquiring minds want to know.

Also worth noting for CaTo (Caitlin Tobias) fans is this PSA:

"NEWS: CHANGE OF DOMAIN
Per 11 July 2011, Cait's World has a new web-addres: www.caitlintobias.com ! Yay!

The old one (caitlintobias.wordpress.com) will be re-directed for a while, but it may be wise to change your bookmark or link, if you have one."

Pserendipitous Wit

The question was asked (repeatedly).

"Maybe you should give us a quick sample of your humour right here so we can assess your bookability . . .

Pep ( . . . and you can decide if we are your sort of audience.)"

"I have heard that clothing shops around American bases did a roaring trade in a line called Quick Release Underwear, which were sold with the advertising slogan "One Yank And They Come Off".

Pep (is not old enough to verify this personally.)"

Regarding your edit explanation [about tilting at windmills]: Did I mention my real life surname is O'Tay, and that because I am so well-endowed my school nickname was Donkey?

Pep (tries to live up to his soubriquet.)

"The true poetry of love . . .
. . . lies in the unconditional acceptance of one who pongs, farts, belches and picks his nose.
According to Carole Franizzi, that is.
Pep (has just realised why all those women are still vainly chasing after him.)"

As Pep (Psvengali) would say, feel free to add some of your own collected Pepisms in the comments section below.

Pep Talk (July 15, 2011)

HAN HELD DICK

Monna said in the "ISHTARA DEFENDS RAPE CHARGES" thread on SC MKII:
"I could end up like one of those ladies eating lunch with Pep."

Pep said:
"I very much hav enjoyed the reading of this thread. It is goed to hav one's expectations entirely confirmed regarding the inability of vain ESLers, inter alia, to have a single fucking clue about what rational posters are talking about.
Pep (suggests Monna returns to making single word posts that hide her lack of understanding, or perhaps emulates those who find solace in simply posting images/videos in the belief that a picture is worth a thousand mis-spelled, content-free, incoherently expressed words.)"

Pep in the "Weight Watchers" thread on SC MKII.

"I guess that's like being proud of being the world's tallest dwarf, eh?
Pep (isn't surprised that Elora's knees are in a bad way, having to support all that dead weight.
PS I loved the phrase "Overweight for my height"; how tall would you have to be for 200lbs to be acceptable - about eight foot?"

Pep in the "Nobody Cares" thread on SC MKII:

"Aw, Elora, for someone who can't decide whether to post recipes that boost your and Ghosty's BMIs into triple digits, or to post how much "success" you have had in losing weight (by getting sick - great strategy, by the way, must recommend it to a bunch of potential anorexics/bulimics I know) you seem not to understand the phrase "if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen".

You ARE sensitive, aren't you, about responses to your desperate public requests for approbation or otherwise. Here is a clue: you can't determine the response of anyone else in a public forum, so you're going to have to suck it. I don't know what you expect from Luc (who has requested several times that I might consider posting more here) and his merry band of mods, but if they do anything other than laugh at you for getting butthurt about something that you haven't even read (paranoia, much?) then they will have tarred themselves with the same pathetic brush as you.

Pep (thinks that perhaps he is going to have to start another group called "Ladies who DON'T lunch" especially for Elora.)"

"Unlike you, I do whatever I want.

Pep (Manipulating people is what ***I*** do.)"

Pep in the "Thread to Pep" thread on SC MKII:

"Why should I be nice in public, Luc? That's boring. I'll keep doing what I do to entertain myself and everybody but my self-appointed targets (and the Ladies Who Lunch and their PC ToyBoys) and get berated as a consequence, as I guess I'm just better than most at pointing out deficiencies and making everybody laugh at them. They have to be masochists to set themselves up to be shot down, so I am doing them a favour.

Pep (Thanks Luc for adding to his list of "Threads about Pep"; it does an attention whore's heart good.)"

Pep tropes:  Literacy, ESL, images and videos as a replacement for coherently and rational expressed thoughts in words, Ladies Who Lunch and their PC ToyBoys, the notion of being virtually bullied, arbitrary moderation, lay counselors, manipulating people, doing whatever he wants, forum strafing, Pep talks.

Editorial Discretion or Cover Up Job? XXXclusive Witness Account

A witness fearful of retribution confirmed that contributors to the controversial publication, Forum Confidential, have been pressured and even threatened.  His identity has been obscured to protect him and his associates.

"It's true.  If you say anything criticizing the tabloid or the publishers or anyone who has an investment in the publication, they come down on you real hard.  One friend...she publicly disagreed with the FC rape editorial and the publishers made it clear...she is not safe anywhere.  A secretary told me that if she refuses them sexual favors or serves them burned toast or room temperature orange juice that they will make sure she never gets hired again anywhere ever.  I was in arbitration and I found out they'd bribed the officials.  I think we have to fight them with their own fire.  We should use the power of the press against them.  If we all go public together we will have strength in numbers.  That's why I'm speaking to you today.  I'm hoping others will be inspired to join me."

Will others join this courageous soul or will FC continue its nefarious domination of the little posters? Will this story blow up or will it stay "off the record, on the QT, and very hush-hush"? Confidentially inquiring minds want to know.

Editorial Discretion or Cover Up Job?

Secret post uncovering "sleeze" at an up-and-coming forum never makes it to press.  Were the reporters pressured to stifle the story?  Did money change hands?  Were cell phones tapped?  Will this be the subject of a congressional investigation and hearing? What happened "under the table"?  Is it "off the record, on the QT, and very hush-hush"?  Confidentially inquiring minds want to know.
